Abstract
Regular exercise and physical activity provide tremendous benefits for the elderly. Promoting physical activity among the elderly is a critical public health and clinical concern. This study investigated the effect of exercise as a supplement on the quality of life of elderly men. The elderly of Maku Free Zone were assigned to experimental and control groups. The experimental group received an exercise program in 12 sessions of 65 minutes of exercise per week, while the control group was placed on a waiting list for two months. A quality of life questionnaire (EQ-5D) was used to collect information. An ANOVA was used to analyze the research data. Results showed that the experimental group had higher quality of life scores than the control group, with mobility being the most independently associated with exercise participation. Governments and policymakers must take steps to create environments that encourage participation in sports and lifelong physical activity for the elderly.
