Trends and Themes in Combat Sports Research

This study provides an in-depth analysis of the titles of scholarly publications focusing on
combat sports up to mid-March 2024, extracted from Google Scholar data. Through this
review, prominent recurring keywords were identified that shed light on underlying themes
and trends in the field. Notably, terms such as 'combat sports', 'athletes', 'systematic review'
and 'martial arts' emerged as central to combat sports research, indicating a dedicated focus
on specific disciplines and methods. The repetition of these and other highly repeated
keywords obtained emphasizes their pivotal role in shaping the advancement of knowledge in
combat sports research. Using both quantitative and qualitative methods, this research aims to
provide a comprehensive analysis of articles related to combat sports, using word cloud
visualization to summarize and assess the relevance of information. Despite the benefits and
insights provided by combat sports research, challenges remain, including the methodological
and theoretical complexities inherent in studying this dynamic phenomenon. Addressing
these challenges requires interdisciplinary collaboration, innovative methodologies, and
ethical research practices to increase the credibility and impact of combat sports research.
